I have worked in many industries and have searched for the right fit for a creative like me and although I felt accomplished in different positions, I can't say I felt completely fulfilled until I became immersed in art.
In 2017, I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease called “Wegener’s Disease” and it destroyed the small blood vessels in my ears, brought on incredible fatigue and joint pain and left me hearing impaired.
I had many sleepless nights while on heavy doses of prednisone to bring down the inflammation in my body. I began to fill these nights with bits of cloth and thread by my side, creating tiny flowers and plants that I then added to embellish pillows and sachets.
Hand embroidery became my therapy during the most difficult seasons of sickness. I am grateful for the healing that God has allowed through this art form, it has given me new life and brings a whole lot of joy.
Being completely self taught, I have enjoyed the process of mixing both creative stitching and mixed media. You can find my original designs stitched on fabric collage, painted fabric, photography and paper. Mixing these mediums allow me to create layers of texture and color . I love to explore both floral composition, landscapes and will create occasional whimsical pieces as children’s wall art.
I hope you enjoy browsing my work, it truly is a gift I love to share.
